Sounds like the car is running in limp mode. Is the car throwing any CEL's? You really won't notice vtec engaging on the F22b1 or F23 as they engage quite low. Just for shits an giggles have ya'll tried pulling codes anyway? Limp mode puts the engine in safe mode basically to try an save the engine. I feel like it's an ignition modal problem or something related. It is a hot issue. Doesn't happen cold. I don't have experience with Hondas but it seems to me to be an ignition modal kind of problem. I think I want to replace the distributor. Any thoughts? Brianator answered about a year ago. Youre on the right track! The ignition control module which is within the distributor can "break down" when hot as can the ignition coil which is also in the distributor 4 cylinder models.

There's also the cam position and crank position sensors incorporated in the distributor also and they can start to break down when hot too. Your best bet is to go to a local pick and pull scrapyard, find an identical distributor out of a clean looking but wrecked Accord same as yours and swap them its not hard, do your research. Stick with genuine Honda, aftermarket replacements are very problematic with Hondas.

That's what I'm thinking. Experienced agreement is what I needed. I just don't have much experience with Hondas. Most of my Honda experience is from my friends Honda with a shotty motor swap so there was much to learn! My car is backfiring, engine is shaking and it loses power, especially on hills. When put in Park P or neutral N and you revv the engine it still wont exceed the rpm. Please note that the car idles fine and moves perfectly except getting close to rpm which forces the car not to exceed that mark. Checked for Map sensor but it still doesnt exceed rpm. The little research that i have done indicates that a code has caused the engine to protect itself thereby not exceeding rpm limp mode.

I decided to scan the car and this is what am getting. P Vtec solenoid valve circuit high voltage honda accord. I dont think it could be the o2 sensor cause i've had that fault triggered for a long while and it never stoppped the car from exceeding rpm.

However this is the first time i'm getting P, where can i get this sensor or where is the soleniod located.

Need to see if this is what is stopping the car from not exceeding rpm. I can see you've been searching for solution online, but how long have you had the car. Has anyone worked on it? O2 sensors go crazy, engine retards not to add too uch fuel. Check connections, and reset. Fyi, I am not a techie. I've had the car for a year and this is the first time i would ever experience this issue.

Cleaned the throttle during the weekend but same result. Also got a mechaninc to remove the silencer and check if the issue is from silencer but i got same result. I'm really running out of ideas. This your solution: 1. Park the car for now. Order a Haynes repair manual for your car from the internet or let someone buy and send to you direct from abroad. You may think this is expensive.

But you will spend more money and time on those mechanics doing trial and error and hence complicating your problems.Sign In with Edmunds. Howdy, Stranger! It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
